Description: It wasn’t meant to be like this.
She was the next rising action star in both Hollywood and Japanese cinema. A handful of well-received police action-dramas in Japan and even a Hollywood blockbuster had the film world talking about Karen Fukuhara in the same breaths as Michelle Yeoh or Ziyi Zheng. All signs pointed to her being poised to have a breakout starring role in the very near future.
And then the accident happened.
The doctors told her she was lucky to be alive. She didn’t feel like she was particularly lucky. Two broken legs and a cracked skull will do that. Laid up for nine months, followed by six months of rehab, and Hollywood had forgotten about her. Out of sight, out of mind.
Dejected at being forgotten, Karen found solace in the gym. Pounding on a heavy bag helped her get out her frustrations. Beating on a sparring partner was even more cathartic. And then she picked up wrestling to go along with her martial arts training. As a pre-teen, Karen discovered and was fascinated by pro-wrestling and the men and women therein. Unfortunately, her budding film career meant that she did not have as much time to follow her hobby as she did as a teenager. However, now she was under no such time restraints, and she quickly made a name for herself as an exciting young newcomer to the ranks of Joshi wrestling. About two years into her wrestling career, she learned of FAWN and was intrigued. She has been in talks with FAWN management over the last few months about bringing her to Orlando to see if she has what it takes...
