Deputy’s First Challenge
(Flashback to the week after Cold November Pain)
Ariane counted the doors down the stark white halls and carpeted floors until she reached a certain door and nodded. “Alright, here we are.” Opening the door, she was greeted by Maiden America lying in a large bed, relaxing and watching a gardening channel on a TV up in the corner.
“Morning Maiden, how y’all doing?”
The blonde turned her attention to her new guest and smiled. “Oh, hey, how are you, Ari?”
“Doing well, so…how’s your neck? Doc think you’ll be right as rain soon?”
Maiden’s smile waned slightly, as a hand came up and touched the cervical collar supporting her neck and head. “Still there. Doc’s say a few more weeks to be safe. Don’t want my head falling off or anything.”
The humor was dry…forced…but Ariane let out a light laugh and a warm smile. “Don’t worry, hun. Y’all will be out there kicking butt soon enough. Wish I could have found ya a bit sooner before-“
Maiden waved her off. “Again, not your fault. You were doing your thing, Natalya was doing hers. Risk comes with the business.”
Ariane was quiet for once, sitting down next to Maiden’s hospital bed. “How…what would you think…” She fell silent once more as Maiden arched an eyebrow.
“You usually are not one to miss words, Miss Jones. Calf got your tongue?”
“…”
“Ari?”
“Ya know, kid? I-”
“…kid?”
“-think I have an idea to prevent just that.” Ariane stood from the bedside of her new friend. “Now y’all get better right quick, as I have an idea that all y’all might like.”
“Where are you going?” Maiden asked as her redheaded friend turned to leave. “You just got here.”
“Got to see Bethany real quick,” Ariane shot over her shoulder. “I’m sure she won’t mind me visiting.”
…
A couple of miles away, the aforementioned boss sneezed.
…
With a determined gait, Ariane rushed down the hallway, a plan forming in her mind and a grin on her face. “Oh, this is gonna be great!”
(Beginning of Season’s Beatings PPV)
The crowd was just settling into their seats for the start of the PPV, being as large and raucous as ever, looking forward to the exciting lineup of matches. As the last preliminary music closed, an announcer welcomed the crowd to the annual Season’s Beatings PPV. A loud cheer went up as the lights dimmed. A recognizable guitar chord twanged, the crowd roaring quickly into a crescendo of cheers as the Country Cowgirl Ariane Jones appeared at the top of the ramp.
“Ariane Jones”
Her appearance was mostly the same, although, in addition to her hat, boots, and vest, she’d added a pair of chaps and spurs to her getup along with a nice shiny sheriff badge. She paused to shine up the badge before nodding her head to the beat, finally letting out a massive ‘Yeehaw’ before bolting down the ramp and sliding into the ring.
Climbing the turnbuckle, she belted out another ‘Yeehaw’, one returned again by the audience, before hopping back down to grab a microphone off the apron and moving to the center of the ring. The redhead basked in the adoration for a few seconds, her smile as wide and warm as the prairies back home.
“HELLO, FAWNatics! How are all y’all doing today!?”
The enthusiastic cheer in return made her chuckle.
“Well, that’s darn good to hear. I hope y’all are excited for tonight’s matches, so I won’t take up too much of y’all’s time tonight with this announcement. You all remember what happened last month with that mean ole’ Naughty Nattie, right?”
A chorus of boo’s rang out at the mention of Constantinova’s name, though Ariane did wave her hand for the crowd to calm down. “Alright, alright. We know she’s a rough ‘n tumble gal, and y’all saw what she did to our friend Maiden, but…” Ariane grinned. “…y’all also saw what Vic and I did to her in return.
Another wild cheer, and this time, Ariane let the crowd calm down before beginning again.
“After visiting our friend, she’s doing alright now, by the way, I had a bit of an ole epiphany talking with Maiden, and so I had to hoofbeat it over to Bethany right quick and, well…she likes my idea.”
(In the back in Bethany’s Office)
“I hate your idea.”
(Back in the Ring)
“She said it was the best idea she’d ever heard in her life!”
(In the back in Bethany’s Office)
Bethany was rubbing her head. “No…I said it would make us a lot of money, you tw-“
(Back in the Ring)
“So since she loved this idea so much, I’m here to share it with all y’all. Ya wanna hear it?”
A roar of approval greeted the cowgirl.
“Right then. So without further hubbub, let me introduce my new deputy…Jenny Goodale!”
“Jenny Goodale”
A short, curvy blonde appeared at the top of the ramp, her short wavy hair bouncing as she hopped in place from foot to foot, decked out in MMA-style dark blue shorts and a low-cut matching top. After a few bounces, which the crowd appreciated, she did a standing backflip, landing in a superhero pose, before bolting down the ramp as quick as a flash. A stealthy trampoline was placed next to the ring, almost unneeded as Jenny jumped off it, easily clearing the top rope by a few feet while performing a double flip mixed with a 360 spin.
She landed gracefully, rolling to the opposite ropes before bouncing backwards off them with a handstand before leaping and performing a final mid-air somersault before landing a second superhero pose in the center of the ring.
As the woman stood, the audience let out a loud cheer at the acrobatic display. Jenny walked over to Ariane and gave her a high-five before the two women took their places in the center of the ring. It was then the audience also realized just how short Goodale was, as her head barely came up to the base of Ariane’s neck at her shoulder.
“And that ain’t even half of what my best friend can do. She’s one of the gals who trained me for the indie wrestling circuit, and she knows more moves than probably anyone in the back. And trust me, don’t let her kick ya. My Cowgirl Kick ain’t nuthin’ compared to what she can do with her legs.”
The crowd roared in laughter as Jenny blushed. “Ariane! That’s an innuendo, you know that, right?”
“It…is?” the cowgirl asked blankly, getting another roar from the audience. A massive blush crossed over her face. “Weeelllll, then…I guess with that introduction to the new deputy for FAWN, y’all have got yourself a new tag team for law and order, justice, and-”
Whatever Ariane as about to say was cut off by a crash of a cymbal and the soft, soothing voice belting out, “Hey Pig!”
“Piggy” by Nine Inch Nails www.youtube.com/watch?v=aJmkN8j2CIo
The house lights switch to stripes of black and white covering the audience before switching to a blazing orange that rested on the stage as a figure emerged
The curtains don’t so much as part as the woman simply walked through them without a care to move them. The woman standing there is a sturdy, curvy woman with lightly tanned skin and intense dark eyes. Though starkly beautiful, with long, slightly wavy black hair, her attire is strange and only raises questions.
What had once clearly been an orange prison jumpsuit has been cut apart and tailored into a two-piece affair, the top a tied-off crop top that shows off both generous cleavage and a taut stomach and the bottoms a loose pair of shorts. Both the sleeves and legs have been rolled up to show off smooth, sturdy arms and thick legs, as well as the hint of a lacy black bra and panties. Shiny black wrestling boots that reach right past her ankles round out her gear, as well as the taped wrists and fingers.
“The Prisoner - Jessica Walker”
A few in the audience recognized the woman standing at the top of the ramp, with some booing, and others cheering after the display she had made of Tanvi two years prior. This time, she stood without chains or manacles but instead a microphone.
“Looks like we’ve got ourselves a couple of little piggies wanting to play cop,” she soothed, her voice dripping with irony as she stepped brazenly down the ramp toward the ring. Her words took on a sharp edge as she reached the bottom. “I hate pigs.”
Ariane looked confused. “And you are?” she asked.
Jessica grinned as she climbed the steps to the ring and stepped inside. “Someone who’s about to stick some porkers back in their place.”
The Country Cowgirl stepped forward to meet the challenge head-on, when Jenny held out an arm, keeping her back.
“Really?” Jessica laughed as the woman, who barely scrapped 5’1 with boots on, stepped up to just in front of the much taller Walker, barely coming up to the woman’s chin. “They’re allowing eight-year-olds in the ring now? Go hide behind mommy over there before a chokeslam kills you.”
(In the back in Bethany’s Office)
Bethany spat out her coffee, rushing out of her seat. “Shi-”
(Back in the Ring)
Jenny grinned. “You really think that?” she put her hands behind her back. “Ariane, please tie my hands behind my back so I can deal with this lovely lady.”
Jessica gawked.
Ariane shrugged. “I didn’t know you were that sportin’,” she replied as she brought out a lasso from under her vest. The crowd ‘ooooo’ed’ at the move while most were simply wondering where she had pulled it from.
Quicker than most could follow, Ariane tied off both of Jenny’s hands together, to many catcalls and whistles from the audience.
Jenny smiled. “Now, where were we-?”
She was cut off by a right hook aimed right at her nose.
As agile as a cat, Jenny ducked the blow by bending backwards, then spinning her top half back into place while taking a step back. The dance continued as Jessica aimed punch after punch on the dodging blonde.
Ariane moseyed on over to a corner, grinning as she brought out a notepad and pen. “Okay, first name on The List…J…e…s…”
Jessica, meanwhile, was becoming increasingly infuriated. Switching tactics, she aimed a kick at the dodging wrestler’s gut, only to scream in rage as Jenny leapt right over the kick…
And her scream was muffled as two strong legs wrapped around her head, Jenny twisting hard as she pulled off a standing hurricarana, tossing the former convict head over heels. By the time Jessica got to her feet, Jenny was already standing nearby.
“Done yet?”
Instead, Walker went back on the attack.
Ariane was tapping the pen against her lip. “Is this two s’s in Jessica or just one? All these new-fangled spellings nowadays…I’ll just put two.”
Jessica was breathing hard as she went to grab Jenny, only for the shorter woman to again dodge right out of her grasp. She turned to see Jenny lift her left leg straight up in the air in a move that would make the Rockette’s jealous, only to come crashing down straight onto Jessica’s head, knocking her face first into the ground. Barely letting off the gas, Jenny ran towards the nearby turnbuckle and hopped straight on top of it, taking a short breath as Jessica rolled over onto her back, then, to the shock of the crowd, ran down the rope several steps before flipping off them in a 360 splash onto the awaiting Jessica.
“Oh!” Ariane stated with a smile. “I forgot to let y’all know. Jenny here medaled at the Youth Olympics in gymnastics. Sorry about that slipping my mind.”
Jessica oof’ed at the splash, clutching her stomach while Jenny rolled off. She slammed a fist onto the mat before sitting up on her legs, just in time to see Jenny rebounding off the ropes and launching a dropkick right into Walker’s chest.
Jessica slid right out of the ring while Jenny stood, breathing heavily and cracking her neck once.
The crowd was roaring.
Walker was fuming, the brunette roaring in rage as she slipped a hand inside her jumpsuit, pulling out two pairs of brass knuckles. She was about to re-enter the ring…
“ENOUGH!”
All attention turned to the top of the ramp, where a heavy-breathing Bethany Christian stood.
“Bethany Christian”
The shout even brought Jessica to a halt as all eyes turned to the raven-haired chairwoman of FAWN.
“Why…does it seem like chaos follows you everywhere?” Bethany muttered before pointing at the ring. “If you two are so anxious for a match, you’ll have one next PPV. Not here, not now.”
The crowd boo’ed, as they had been enjoying the entertaining match. Christian ignored them. “We agreed to a promo spot, not a full-length match to start off the show. Especially as you have a match later already, Ms. Jones.”
Ariane nodded. “Alright. We’ll saddle up for now. I would like to say one thing, though.”
“What…?” Bethany stated as she felt a migraine already beginning to form.
“Ms. Jessica Walker just made the list.”
