The following video was uploaded to FAWN’s homepage today
FAWN’s Social Media Director, Official host of their Youtube channel, and top interviewer Mel Sutton stands with a microphone in hand by the doors to the weightlifting space in the organization’s Performance Center.
MEL SUTTON
“Hello FAWNatics, I’m Mel Sutton, and we’re currently waiting for our Intercontinental Champion, Victoria Hackenschmidt, to get her thoughts on Debra’s Sugerman’s campaign for the fans; to decide on how the challenger will take the title.”
DEBRA SUGERMAN
Mel cranes her neck to look through the window in the door and turns back to speak excitedly to the camera, Oh, I think I see her now!”
VICTORIA HACKENSCHMIDT
The Valiant One steps through doors covered with a light sheen of sweat, glowing from a fresh and thorough workout with a white, fluffy towel strewn over a shoulder. The IC champ walks over to Sutton wearing grey speed shorts with a matching sleeveless Tank Top, “Hello, Ms. Sutton. A pleasure to see you again.”
“And you, Ms.Hackenschmidt.” Mel replies politely, “Thank you for making space during your time away from the ring. We were hoping to get your thoughts on your challenger on Thrills, Chills, and Spills, Debra Sugerman.”
Victoria is eternally polite and rarely has a bad word to say outside the ring. Still, eagle-eyed fans spot a slight pursing of her lips before she answers, “Debra has a real hunger for this sport, very interested in all aspects of it, including the business side, which I always recommend for anyone one starting a career in Professional Wrestling. She’s doing very well in The Jungle, and we’re going to have a great match.”
Mel smiles genuinely and nods, so many of her interviews descend into lurid or vivid threats or descend into violence, but she has a good feeling about this one. “Sugerman recently released a poll to the fans saying outright saying she will pin you for the intercontinental championship, and the FAWNatics will decide how; a Facesit or Front sleeper. What are your thoughts regarding her statement and this venture?”
There’s a pause so pregnant it’s overdue, Victoria’s composure breaks slightly, and fans can see a haunted woman before the professional mindset takes over.
“From a strategic standpoint, it’s quite brilliant. Rather than make a direct menace or confrontation, the fans themselves are the method used to get into my head, and they are…. more than eager to fill that role. As you are well aware, my relationship with the wrestling community has been turbulent as of late.”
Sutton gives a slight grimace in sympathy. Ever since Danica somewhat justifiably ended their tag team a portion of the fans seems to hate every action Victoria took for the sake of hating. She speaks with as much consideration she can imply, “You been bombarded with a lot of content from the fans treating the poll like a genuine election; originally written songs, art, posters and more.”
“Yes,” Victoria nods as she stares into the middle distance, one hand gripping the towel tighter than before, “I will say if nothing else, this shows the creativity of our fans. They take on any seeds Sugerman gives them, turning them into a forest. This latest advertisement Sugermen’s started, the…. uh…” Hackenschmidt’s eye darts around as she tries to think of what the latest trend in humiliating her is called.
‘Knight-nights,” Mel so helpfully adds, “to those unaware, this pseudo-meme where fans caption stills or videos of you being Face sat or chest smothered.”
“Yes, that’s it. Thank you,” Victoria says with just a hint of sarcasm. “I’ve been lucky to a mostly winning record in my career thus far, so the majority of the Front Sleepers edits I’m being sent are recent ones perpetrated by my… friend, Danica.”
Mel chose wisely not to explore that conversation route, they only had so much time, and Danica Dadal’s relationship to Victoria could fill an hour special.
“There are far fewer recorded instances of you losing via Facesit, but one seems to really have caught the attention of the FAWNatics. A match with Aloisia Berge some years ago?”
“Ahh yes… that one.” Victoria is beginning to lose her patience with this interview, and she’s trying not to let it show. “In our home country of Germany, we had an extended, but professional, even friendly rivalry. However, this is a combat sport, and blood runs hot. In my hometown of Hesse, we had a match; I’m not sure when things started escalating, but they did, and we started fighting with much more aggression than in previous bouts.”
Hackenschmidt whips the towel off her shoulder and holds it tight in her fist, her other hand on her hip, tension filling her body as she explains the backstory of the clip.
“The tide turned in Aloisia Berge’s favour, and the final third of the match of a bit of a… I believe the slang in English is ‘London Run’, and I barely got any offence in, her pinning me at that point was almost an act of mercy. Though I do wish my mother wasn’t in attendance at the time. And to lose and in such a manner…”
The energy behind Victoria’s eyes changes, Mel can see a glint of the rage that has been erupting in Vic recently when she’s in the ring, and not wanting a first-hand experience of that, Sutton pushes through to her last talking point.
“Do find you find the fan response more affecting or Sugerman’s advertisements such as the new billboards that stir them on?”
Victoria looks at her quizzically, “Billboards?”
The video quick edits to a sunny suburban road, a giant billboard showcases a grinning Debra Sugerman looking over her shoulder with hands on knees, Sugar Tush pointed to the camera. The confectionary heiress went the extra to have animatronics tilt her backside side to side for the illusion of the young rookie shaking her stuff. A second billboard appears with the same animatronics, but this time Sugerman is fully facing passersby, and it’s her Good and Plenty’s titillating those choosing to stop and stare.
We flashback to Victoria and Mel, the latter looking dark and severe; Victoria’s tone is low and even, veins pulsing in her arm as she holds the towel with a vice grip. “All these videos, posters, slogans, catchphrases, none of them will help Debra when the bell rings. Between the ropes, it’s just her and me, and I will come at her with all the power, technique, and experience I have at my disposal. Whatever Sugerman has, I hope it will hold firm long enough to justify all her grandstanding. Thank you for the interview.”
Hackenschmidt walks away without waiting for an answer or looking back. Mel Sutton’s an old hand at this point and takes it in stride, speaking to the camera, “Thank you, Victoria Hackenschmidt. If those watching at home still haven’t cast their votes yet, a link will be available at the end of the video. The poll will remain open till the day of Thrills, Chills and Spills, goodnight everyone!”
