BACKGROUND
Calina Dragomirov is the youngest of five siblings in a notable, yet not particularly well know wrestling lineage. A proud family that has been imbedded in the sport for generations, the Dragomirovs, while respected, have never competed beyond the boarders of their home nation, nor have they been able to ‘grasp the brass ring’ in any meaningful fashion. Born into a family that were work horses all but, seemingly, destined for mediocrity, Calina faced an even greater struggle to get noticed.
Despite displaying commendable skill, and a gift for the theatrical, Calina spent much of her early career being packaged alongside one or more of her elder brothers into federations that favoured male competition to a stifling degree for their female counterparts, and she was rarely positioned to display her own talents. She chafed at the restrictions placed upon her, but she persevered regardless, like a good Dragomirov, and was repeatedly convinced to accept her lot until she caught the attention of one Rick ‘Golden Goliath’ Sinclair.
The legendary ring warrior made her an offer that she couldn’t refuse and, with a great deal of vodka consumed between Rick and her father (so the story goes), blessing was received for her to become the Dragomirov to compete outside of Russia. Calina joined the GBW League, of which the ‘Golden Goliath’ was Chairman, and she took her talents not only to Britain, but to a Women’s Division that received a level of coverage that she could previously only dream of.
After two years of seasoning tearing up arena’s the length and breadth of the UK, the Red Winter Dragon would not only receive a rebranding for her new, western audience as Caity Drake, but would also enjoy a brief, albeit electric stint as the GBW IC Champion.
It was there that she caught the eye of FAWN, the GBW enjoying good relations with the larger, women’s league and, with Rick’s blessings, Caity Drake made her transfer to the States, fully prepared to take her career to the next level…
