NAME: Casey Maxwell
HEIGHT: 5‘9“
WEIGHT: 149lbs
HOMETOWN: Brooklyn, NY
ALIGNMENT: Heel
STYLE: Technician/Brawler
RING GEAR: Gold one piece, with white pads and boots. She sports a knee brace to protect her right knee.
FINISHER: Boulevard of Broken Dreams (Widow’s Peak), Gold Digger (Fireman’s carry side slam)
BACKGROUND:
When Casey Maxwell broke into the wrestling business in 1989, exceedingly big things were predicted for her. Young Casey was a blend of size, strength, athleticism and agility the likes of which doesn’t come along very often. The only thing standing in Maxwell’s way was time: time to hone her skills and learn her craft. But once she did, industry pundits were convinced that she would be an historic superstar.
5 years into her career, Casey was on the very brink of putting it out together when tragedy struck. In a match that was also something of an audition piece for scouts from a major promotion, Casey suffered a catastrophic blowout of her right knee. A number of doctors felt that MAxwell’s career was over that night, but Casey would not listen to the naysayers. To her credit, she worked her ass off rehabbing her knee, and did eventually return to the ring.
But the superstar in waiting? THAT Casey Maxwell NEVER came back. She was still a credible worker, MORE than credible, even. She was DAMNED good still.
But that unique blend of speed and power was gone forever.
Still, Maxwell plugged away and made a good living for herself on the independent circuit, and she was doing so when she first crossed the path of FAWN. She was working for the promotion that would become FAWN2 when it was acquired by the company, though they wanted to focus on developing THEIR young talent. Casey ended up pitted in a match against another independent veteran, “the Professor” Sadie Millwood, with the winner earning the only developmental deal FAWN was willing to extend to one of Wendy Landrum’s old hands.
Sadie won the match, and the contract.
Casey eventually DID become a part of FAWN, but only as a member of the broadcast team. Her in-ring career in FAWN consisted of one match: tagging with LaKeisha Bates to face Ivy Armstrong and Lorelei Butler. When the team of Armstrong & Butler emerged victorious, Bates turned on her partner--targetting Casey’s bad knee. The experience left Maxwell with an extreme hatred of FAWN as a company.
After rehabbing her knee a second time, Casey resurfaced as a member of the fledgling promotion WOLF, where she ended up mentoring another woman praised for her blend of strength and agility, who would make QUITE the name for herself in FAWN: “the Ultimate Weapon”, Hailey Kennedy.
Alas, when WOLF was absorbed into FAWN, Casey Maxwell’s contract was NOT retained.
Maxwell returned to the independents, and her path eventually took her to the SWA, where she emerged as one of the top bad girls--and had two reigns as SWA champion. So, of course, it didn’t particularly surprise her when the rumors started circulating of Cathy Dennehy’s becoming involved in the company, and the SWA’s incoprporation into FAWN’s developmental system. This time, however, Casey is determined not merely to KEEP her job, but to finally achieve her dream of making (and lasting in) the Big Time.
